Grenoble is considered to be one of the climate action frontrunners in France, and was also the first French metropolis to have a Green politician, Eric Piolle, as mayor. The metropolis overall 2050 goals are:

  • To reduce GHG emissions by 75%
  • Halve energy consumption
  • Achieve 100% renewable energy
  • Improve air quality by halving nitrogen oxide and particle (PM 2.5) emissions
With the following Intermediar milestones:
  • At least 50% reduction of GHG emissions by 2030
  • At least 40% reduction in final energy consumption by 2030
  • 100% renewable electricity by 2022
  • At least 35% RES by 2030
