Budapest & Geneva get international recognition for their public lighting concepts

An article published on the Shréder society’s website honor two members of Energy Cities, Budapest and Geneva, which have just been awarded the Auroralia prize 2010.

Organised by Schréder and the LUCI Association, the Auroralia Prize rewards every year three cities which have realised the best outdoor lighting project with the minimal environmental impact. The award ceremony took place on the 8 th December in Lyon, at the same time as the annual “Fêtes des Lumières” Festival. The jury, composed of seven journalists, experts in sustainable development, urban lighting and city planning, gave the first prize to Budapest for its “Liberty bridge” project. Geneva won the second prize for its lighting renovation plan called “Better light for less consumption”.
The city of Tilburg (Nederlands) got the third prize for its “Cityring” project.
