The European Energy Award label process is designed for local authorities who want to contribute actively to improving their sustainable energy policy with regard to climate targets.

It has just been officially recognized by the European Union as an efficient and relevant tool. This tool is also adapted to requirements that have to be fulfilled by local authorities who signed the Covenant of Mayors : http://www.european-energy-award.org/Home.59.0.html
EEA allows to design, monitor and evaluate the energy policy of a territory. The label also recognizes, the excellence achieved by the local authorities in their endeavors; More than 270 local authorities have already been awarded with the label EEA in Europe. The french version of the label, called Cit’ergie, is disseminated by ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency).
