The President of the European Parliament patronizes Energie-Cités' conference during the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2010!
Mr Jerzy Buzek, the President of the European Parliament and MEP of Silesia region in Poland has recently accepted to patronize Energie-Cités’ “Central and Eastern European local authorities are acting to take up new challenges and opportunities” conference.
This event which will take place in the Commission’s Charlemagne building on 24 March 2010 at 14:30 aims at:
- Highlighting successful initiatives contributing to the implementation of the EU energy and climate objectives and results of 20 years effort to foster sustainable energy policies in local authorities from Central and Eastern Europe,
- Identifying challenges and opportunities the local authorities in the new member states will be facing in next 20 years in order to accelerate the rhythm of action, incl. the implementation of the Covenant of Mayors,
- Providing exceptional networking opportunities for the representatives of local authorities, energy agencies, associations and organisations, institutions, decision makers and businesses active in the field of sustainable energy active in these countries.
During the event, the 2nd European MODEL Award will be handed over to the city that will achieve the best results in the fields of setting up energy management unit within its administration, development and implementation of ambitious Municipal Energy Programmes as well as organisation and quality of Municipal Intelligent Energy Days.
