The Municipality of Udine, an active member of Energie-Cités, has recently joined the Covenant of Mayors initiative. This ambitious agreement between European cities is meant to contribute in a significant way to achieving the so-called 3x20 objectives put forward by the European Union.
In order to discuss different measures, which aim is to fulfil commitments linked with the Covenant of Mayors, the Municipality of Udine organises a symposium (18 and 19 December 2009) with conferences and various activities related to the issue of energy. The event will take place in parallel with the final days of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, when governments will take important decisions on how to reduce greenhouse emissions.
Taking part in the symposium is an excellent way to get inspired from the experience of other cities and to discuss one’s own ideas concerning the implementation of sustainable energy policies.
A large number of local institutions are involved in the project. The list of contributors includes the Energy Agency of the Province of Udine, technical high schools (ITI Malignani - Udine, ISIC D’Aronco – Gemona), The University of Udine, environmental associations and municipal bookstores.
Representatives of other local authorities will also be present during the event, among them Mr. Giancarlo Savino, Energy Manager of The Municipality of Salerno, who will speak about awareness-raising actions designed for the youngest audience. Salerno is another member of Energie-Cités and a host of the association’s Anniversary Conference, planned for April 2010.
In order to sign up for the event, please contact Agnese Presotto from the Municipality of Udine (agnese.presotto@comune.udine.it).
