“Shared energy”: a new association and a financing tool

by Floriane Bernardot on 5 July 2011 / 141 visites

In many European countries, the system is such that only large operators can invest in renewable energy, thus preventing the emergence of decentralised energy production.

Knowing that, French players from the renewable energy sector -including ALE 08 (Ardennes local energy agency), a member of Energy Cities – created the Energie partagée – Shared Energy” association in June 2010.

This association advocates for reducing energy consumption, developing a production exclusively based on renewable energies and giving local authorities an active role in energy supply and management.

To achieve its objectives, the association has an EPI– a shared energy investment – the first financing tool for citizens willing to invest in renewable energy production and energy efficiency.
