RELACS yourself in a sustainable accomodation.

by Floriane Bernardot on 14 June 2011 / 110 visites

“You run a hotel, b&b or hostel and you want to reduce your environmental impact in order to offer a greener tourism?”

Then become a partner of the RELACS project! Launched in May 2010 in Modena (IT), RELACS (REnewabLe energies for tourist ACcomodation buildingS) is a project involving partners from 10 European countries and funded by Intelligent Energy Europe.

The main objective of RELACS is to involve and to motivate a significant number of hotels -including all kind of accommodation&hospitality buildings- throughout Europe in implementing renewable measures as well as energy efficiency in their buildings.

In order to reach this goal, the project will develop appealing marketing tools for hotels, creating a European tourist resort network, a sustainable energy logo, information tools (website, European Catalogue, national brochures, etc) about RELACS itineraries. The entrepreneur associations of the sector are expected to get formally involved since the very beginning.

Among others, the project will encourage the tourist-accommodation sector to invest in energy efficiency-renewable measures by involving the “most relevant actors” – tourist sector associations- in 10 Advisory Committees, providing at least 60 hotels with free services such as building energy audits, feasibility studies for Renewable Energy Systems -RES- and technical assistance, and training at least 200 employees and 100 managers of tourist resorts.

Modena (IT) and Almada (PT), both members of Energy Cities, have already taken part in this project.
