In the framework of an international conference dedicated to the Covenant of Mayors in Krakow (28-29 May 2009), the Polish network of Energie-Cités (PNEC) is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The network, which counts more than 40 Polish cities, promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy use at local level.
During a plenary session on 29th May, 15 years of PNEC experience will be reviewed by
- Zbigniew MICHNIOWSKI, President of PNEC Board (see photo with Kristina Dely)
- Maria STANKIEWICZ, PNEC Director
- Andrzej CZERWIŃSKI, former President of PNEC Board
- Edward WEKSEJ, honour Ambassador of Energie-Cités
PNEC is also involved in the Covenant of Mayors, both as the official Supporting Structure for Polish cities and via its members Bielsko-Biała and Niepołomice who were among the first cities to sign the Covenant of Mayors at the official ceremony in February. During the first Technical Workshop held in Brussels on 24th April, Mr. Zbigniew Michniowski, President of the network, voiced their commitment to promote the Covenant of Mayors in Poland, and to help signatory cities fulfill their 20% by 2020 target.
PNEC is a collective member of Energie-Cités.
