New Board meets in Heidelberg
The Energie-Cités Board of Directors met in Heidelberg on 30th June 2009. Eckart Würzner, the host and mayor of Heidelberg, was recently re-elected President of Energie-Cités.

The following vice-presidents were also elected:
- Bielsko-Biala (PL), represented by Zbigniew Michniowski, Deputy Mayor
- Paris (FR), represented by Denis Baupin, Deputy Mayor
- Helsinki (FI), represented by Pekka Sauri, Deputy Mayor
- Brasov (RO), represented by George Scipcaru, Mayor
- Cork County Council (IE), represented by Alan Coleman, Councillor,
- Leicester (UK), represented by Sarah Russel, Councillor
Further Board members are the cities of Delft (NL), Pamplona (ES), Salerno (IT) and Växjö (SE).
At this occasion, a special Covenant of Mayors task force has been created. It is lead by Heidelberg with the support of Paris and it includes the cities of Brasov, Helsinki, Växjö and Pamplona. This team will give the Covenant signatory cities a voice at higher level and it will help us to make the Covenant a success for all.
Board members also took advantage of this meeting in Heidelberg to see for themselves how the city’s sustainable energy policy is being put into practice in the streets, parks and buildings, and even on water with Heidelberg’s solar boat!
The Energie-Cités Board of Directors is composed of 11 cities from 11 countries. A perfect match for a European network uniting 1,000 towns and cities from 30 countries (www.energie-cites.eu).
