It adopted its action program for 2011 on Wednesday 26th January during the 12èmes Assises nationales de l’énergie, one of the biggest gatherings of local authorities in France concerning energy and climate issues.
This Club fostering exchange between the French signatories, has been initiated by Energy Cities and will be coordinated by Denis Baupin (Deputy Mayor of the City of Paris), Vice-President and Treasurer of Energy Cities. At the initiative of the Mayor of Heidelberg, President of Energy Cities, another club of this type is to be launched in Germany this autumn, with both the support of Climate Alliance and Energy Cities. The launch of this political group, gathering most of the 54 German signatories, is foreseen for the 25th October 2011.
One of the objectives of this Club is to obtain EU funding for German local authorities for the implementation of the Covenant, e.g. the creation of a climate protection concept, CO2 balancing, organisation of energy days, etc.
