June 2011 was the most successful month of the ENGAGE Campaign in Ivanic-Grad (Croatia). In just one day, on the 11th, about 80 statements have been collected!
In Ivanic-Grad, over seventy associations are operating. Their activities include culture, sports, arts, heritage protection, hiking, fashion, animal rights and promote Ivanić-Grad all around Europe. That is why the Municipality decided to inform them and engage them in all European projects and campaigns in which Ivanic-Grad is involved.
The Association of Garden Lovers has a holistic approach to energy savings. "The last day of my life I will be planting a tree”, said Zlatko Bublić, President of the Association.
The Section of Aero Modelers in Ivanic-Grad is also ENGAGEd: they do not use air conditioners in order to save energy.
The youngest energy savers are children from the Association of The Little Prince. Their members are parents of children with disabilities and children too. Kids were not thrilled with the idea to reduce time watching cartoons. In return they offered to sleep to save body energy. After a brief exchange of arguments, the conclusion was that with less television viewing, there is more time for playing with friends outdoors.
By engaging local associations, the Municipality of Ivanic-Grad involves citizens in reducing their energy consumption which contributes to reach the Covenant of Mayors objectives.
