Is there a future for centralised energy systems?

At this very moment in which Japan is facing a very difficult energy situation, Energy Cities recommends an article by Gérard Magnin, entitled Energy and Territories : Towards an ‘Energy 2.0’ concept with local authorities, published in January 2011 in Revue des Annales des Mines (France).

In this article, the author analyses the challenges related to the current energy policy such as our growing energy needs and dependance, the limits of centralised energy distribution and the opportunities provided by decentralised energy systems allowing local authorities to play a major role in the field.

Indeed, isn’t it time to rethink energy policy related to territorial policies ?
