This exhibition is part of a discussion on the adaptation of the city of the XXII century led by the Municipality of Paris.
Cécile Leroux and Yannick Gourvil, two architects from the Et Alors group, used the IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports announcing an average +2°C increase, as compared to today’s temperatures, by 2100.
Each postcard shows a view of a Parisian neighbourhood as it is today and presents its “fictive” future.
One example is Paris’ ring road
On the left, today’s photograph.
On the right, there are no more cars and the ring road has become a multi-purpose park integrating new modes of transport and reconnecting Paris to its suburbs.
The exhibition transforms a number of neighbourhoods:
- The Gare de Lyon district is peppered with wind turbines and farms connected to rail networks as part of a regional production network.
- The River Seine becomes a refreshing area as well as a clean transportation route with its current harnessed to produce renewable energy.
