by Ian Turner on 25 March 2009 / 413 visites

Cllr Christian Vassie, the city’s Energy Champion and the originator of the idea to lend smart meters from York libraries, said, "I am absolutely delighted. I wanted to empower residents by giving them access to information as to how energy is used in their homes." To read the full press release click here.

Over 600 households in York have taken advantage of the opportunity to borrow smart meters for free from their local library in just a few weeks since the smart meter library scheme was launched at the beginning of January. Over 150 people are on the waiting lists after York residents seized the opportunity to better understand energy consumption in the home, in order to be able to save money on their energy bills.
