Invitation to all Energie-Cites Members to Växjö (Sweden), 9-11 September 2009

by Kinga Kovacs on 23 July 2009 / 654 visites

We are kindly inviting all our members to take part in the next Site Visit organised in Växjö (Sweden) on the 11th of September 2009.

We are also inviting all interested members to take part in the “Ecobuildings” Conference, taking place at the same occasion, on 9-11 September 2009 organised by the city of Växjö and the Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden.

The city of Växjö has a strong political unanimity when working towards the goal of decreasing CO2 emissions to reach a Fossil Fuel Free Växjö. The city of Växjö has since 1993 reduced its CO2 emissions by 30% down to a level of 3.2 tonnes per capita and year.

Already back in 1996, the politicians decided unanimously about the long-term vision of a fossil fuel free city. The goal covers the entire geographical area, meaning that all inhabitants, companies, NGOs and public authorities have to contribute. To reach the vision, a wide range of actions have been or will be carried out to ensure that the use of heat, power and transport is more climate-friendly. And great results can already be seen – between 1993 and 2007, the CO2 emissions per capita were reduced by 30%, down to a level of 3.2 tonnes per capita per year.

Concerning the SITE VISITS, you have the choice among 3 alternatives:
