IEE programme continuation: Energy Cities intensifies the lobbying !

by Claire Iochum on 13 septembre 2011 / 136 visites

Following its press release about the possible withdrawal of the Intelligent Energy-Europe Programme, Energy Cities intensifies its lobbying for the continuation and refinement of the unique centrally-managed programme focused entirely and exclusively on the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Together with 3 other networks of regional and local authorities and agencies (Climate Alliance, FEDARENE and ICLEI), Energy Cities asks in a letter to the European Commission President, José Manuel Barroso, to strengthen this programme instead of dismanteling it.

Other lobbying initiatives are foreseen in the next few weeks to ensure the IEE programme, recently evaluated as "relevant and useful" by an independant organisation (to see the results of the independant evaluation), is maintained in the new EU programming period.
