The recently issued Multi-annual Financial Framework has as core objective to drive the Europe2020 Strategy. One of the five headlines of the Strategy to achieve a smart, inclusive and sustainable growth are the 2020 climate, energy efficiency and renewable energy targets. The Intelligent Energy Europe programme directly contributes to the achievement of these targets addressing non-technical institutional, financial and behavioural barriers in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Moreover through its decentralised actions, the IEE facilitates EU policy implementation, an element which is strongly needed in the European Union. This programme closely involves thousands of stakeholders, SMEs & companies by empowering them to take on the goals set at EU level. It also enables day by day the sharing of sustainable best practices touching millions of EU citizens.
