Great achievements made so far in the Covenant of Mayors

With more than 890 signataires, including 21 capitals, already committed to go beyond the EU’s 20% goal to reduce CO2 emissions in their territories, the number of citizens connected to the Covenant of Mayors pass 130 million.

In parallel to the growth in Covenant signatories, the number of public administrations and networks of local authorities that have joined as Supporting Structures to the Covenant of Mayors has also risen to 38.
To meet the demands of the growing Covenant, the initiative’s various support mechanisms have developed to offer important administrative and technical guidance :
- Sustainable Energy Action Plan Template and Guidelines available on the Covenant website,
- ELENA (European Local Energy Assistance) to be launched soon in order to help cities making their sustainable energy investment projects bankable and eligible for funding by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
