Covenant raises interest of German local representatives

Energy Cities, a Supporting Structure of the Covenant of Mayors, is spreading the word! During the Climate Congress organised by the Stuttgart Region (also a Covenant Supporting Structure) and the city of Fellbach on 14 July 2010, Peter Schilken from Energy Cities presented the Covenant of Mayors to the audience. The event brought together about 200 representatives of local and regional authorities, energy agencies, consultants, NGOs and networks.

In his speech he focused on the commitments of cities and the support they can receive, particularly in the area of financial assistance. At the Covenant of Mayors stand, informational material was distributed and participants had the opportunity to discuss with COMO representatives a variety of topics related to this unique initiative.. It brought together about 200 representatives of local and regional authorities, energy agencies, consultants, NGOs and networks.

The main theme of the Congress was how local and regional actions for climate protection could be aligned in order to tackle global warming in a coherent way.

The event also featured prominent speakers such as Mrs Tanja Gönner, minister of the environment of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, as well as climate experts and representatives of research.
