Cogeneration Glossary: Baseload capacity
The baseload capacity is the power output of a power plant that can be produced over a given period of time at a constant rate. That means, baseload generating units typically operate whenever they are available. On an energy demand chart this will be the constant bottom line demand for a given customer or group of customers.
This load, which is the contrary to intermediate and peak demand, should be met from the lowest cost sources.
