Bielsko-Biala, a founding city of Energy Cities, is a pioneer city in Poland and one of the first signatories of the Covenant of Mayors.
It organises an International conference which is entitled "Development of an Innovative Energy - Building Energy Security in Cities and Municipalities" that will be held on 12-13 September 2011. Energy-related businesses, large energy consumers, municipalities, districts, etc. will be invited. This conference is twinned with an international exhibition -ENERGETAB 2011- with Poland’s largest fair of modern machinery, apparatus and technology for the energy industry (in 2010, the event was attended by more than 600 exhibitors and 15,000 visitors).
The conference has the patronage of the Polish presidency in the EU.
On the programme:
- vision of shaping the energy future of cities on the basis of EU and national legislation, and the best examples of pioneering cities in Europe.
- vision for the future of cities where IT technologies are used for energy efficiency of entire cities.
- use of various renewable energy sources by local governments and others.
- planning needs of local governments in the area of sustainable development for reducing CO2 emissions
- tour of the stands and viewing of specific presentations of large model energy-related projects carried out by local governments.
About 300 to 400 people are expected to take part in this conference.
