Already 35 ENGAGE local authorities! Will you join?

In 2010 and 2011, 12 local authorities pioneered the ENGAGE campaign, a participative communications initiative designed for European cities. Since the end of 2011 ENGAGE is open to all European local authorities. 23 European local authorities have already joined the campaign, including Energy Cities members Agueda (PT), Barreiro (PT), Bistrita (RO), Bornova (TR) and Grand Paris Seine Ouest (FR).

In this campaign, local authorities engage stakeholders and citizens to play their part in achieving local energy and climate objectives. Participants take visible action via concrete engagements on tailor-made posters. More than 3,000 posters have already been produced by ENGAGE cities!

The campaign is open to European local authorities.
Joining is free the first year for the first 150 local authorities and free for Energy Cities members.

What are their ENGAGEments?

In a primary school of Bielsko-Biala, children learn how to save energy.
The Mayor of Saint-Jacques, a city of Rennes Métropole, the new city hall will be heated with locally grown hedge wood.
Public servants in Heidelberg are bicycle commuters.
A local radio station in Liège commits to heat their office at 19°C.
The Planning Office of the city of Växjö commits to carry out actions that contribute to reach the "3x20" objectives.
In Rimini, Andrea, Katia and Giacomo will build their own eco-house.
The City of Pamplona has involved the Industry Association of Navarra that will conduct an energy audit and prepare an energy saving plan.
Richard from Leicester commits to cycle instead of using his car.
In Heerlen, the President of the EHC Football Club has installed solar panels and this has significantly reduced their energy bill.
Noah and Victoria from Grand Paris Seine Ouest are supporting non-motorised mobility.
Jussi from Helsinki will insulate his windows at home.
A kindergarten in Ivanic-Grad will replace their heating system by a new energy efficient one.
The City of Oeiras is promoting car-sharing.
