The municipal energy agency of Almada, AGENEAL, organised a seminar entitled “Making the "3x20" objectives concrete: perspectives for local actions” for its 10th anniversary.

Invited by the Lady Mayor of Almada, Maria Emilia Neto de Sousa, Energie-Cités’ Executive Director, Gérard Magnin, presented sustainable energy practices from advanced European cities and explained how European and local actions can and should be interlinked on 30th March.
On the second day (31st March), 30 or so local, regional and national representatives discussed city experiences and the role of the Covenant of Mayors as a bridge between European and local levels.
Almada has been a member of Energie-Cités since 1998 and has proven its commitment in projects such as the Display Campaign and the European Mobility week. Almada recently put an efficient tramway system in place to enhance sustainable mobility in the city.
At present, 12 Portuguese local authorities are members of the Energie-Cités network.
