After the Covenant signature – one step further.

The Covenant of Mayors Office (COMO) and European Commission warmly invite mayors of the Covenant cities and their “Covenant coordinators” - responsible for practical implementation of the Covenant initiative in local authorities - to the first Covenant of Mayors Thematic Workshop taking place on Friday 24 April 2009 in Brussels.

The workshop will focus on…

A number of cities are invited to share their local visions and present what European mayors are already doing to shape the energy future at city level.

The cities that are interested to commit to the Covenant objectives but are new in the field will by no means be disadvantaged! The COMO will pay a special attention to cities that have not signed up to the Covenant initiative yet and explain in details how to formally join and practically implement it.

The high level speakers from the Energy Commissioner’s Andris Piebalgs Cabinet and the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation will indicate how they foresee to support committed local authorities in coming months.

The Thematic Workshop is also open to representatives of potential Supporting Structures and Benchmarks of Excellence interested to play an active role within the Covenant.

The COMO will encourage active exchange of experiences, networking, face to face discussions between local authorities and with representatives of the COMO (Helpdesk), Supporting Structures and Benchmarks of Excellence.

PROGRAMME: The first Covenant of Mayors Thematic Workshop is organized as an addition to the Joint Annual Rendez-Vous of Energie-Cités and Climate Alliance – the European associations of local authorities promoting local sustainable energy policies and climate protection.
