A new project and a shared dream almost come true!

« A dream dreamed alone is just a dream whereas a shared dream is a dream already come true. » Dom Helder Camara’s quotation sets the tone for the launch of the new project REVE d’Avenir (Dream of the future), coordinated by SuisseEnergie pour les communes and Energie-Cités.
It involves 27 French and Swiss local authorities. Launched in January in the framework of the INTERREG IV France-Switzerland 2007-2013 programme for European territorial cooperation, REVE d’Avenir is foreseen for 3 years. Its objective is to develop experimental territories with signatories of the Covenant of Mayors to go beyond European 3x20% energy and climate targets.
To get the project under way, its coordinators are banking on the mobilisation of the local players through the development of a virtual negawatt power plant. This plant renders the results of the efforts of all partners visible and concrete. It will be used to quantify and spatialise energy savings achieved and CO2 avoided at local and regional level.
In order to foster the sharing of know-how between professions and actors, REVE d’Avenir also organises 4 interest poles allowing small groups of local authorities to work on a particular topic:
1. More climate in the European Energy Award label (coordinated by SuisseEnergie pour les communes and ADEME)
2. Quality charter of climate actors (coordinated by Grand Lyon)
3. Territorial energy planning (coordinated by Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne-EPFL)
4. Adaptation of mountain stations to climate change (coordinated by ADEME Rhône-Alpes)
During a press conference on April 20th in Lausanne (CH), the 27 French and Swiss local authorities will officially confirm their common commitment to the Covenant of Mayors.
Institutional, technical and financial partners: Interreg IV, ADEME (national level, Franche-Comté, Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne, Alsace), the cantons of Geneva, Freiburg, Neuchâtel, Valais and Vaud as well as the regions of Franche-Comté, Rhône-Alpes and Alsace.
