This Award is aimed at “underlining and encouraging actions conducted to promote greenways in Europe and at co-ordinating initiatives related with this concept as well. It offers to promote examples of best practices and to support its transfer to other greenways all over Europe”.
The EGWA has 37 members, among which foundations, local authorities, associations..., from 10 European countries. The main objectives of the EGWA, founded in January 1998, are to make an inventory of, promote and encourage infrastructures referred to as greenways.
The Jury will select the best applicants for 2 categories: “Excellence Awards” and “Exemplary initiatives”. The award ceremony will be held on September 8th 2011 in Épinal, France.
