Unlocking investment in cities : ELENA-EIB technical assistance facity Unlocking investment in cities : ELENA-EIB technical assistance facity

Project review in five European local authorities

Energy Cities prepared a review of the projects undertaken in the cities of Paris, Malmö (in association with Lund and Helsingborg), Barcelona, Bristol and Brussels-Capital that received support under the ELENA-EIB facility. The aim of this study is to identify in which ways technical assistance programmes such as ELENA-EIB can help unlock investment in cities. The projects undertaken by Energy Cities’ members that we have reviewed cover a wide array of sectors, from public building refurbishment to public transport or renewable energy production.

Economic impact of the energy transition at the local level : Methodologies and case studies Economic impact of the energy transition at the local level : Methodologies and case studies

Energy Cities, December 2014
106 p., PDF format
ISBN : 978-2-9528748-1-6
Understanding the mechanisms that link the energy transition to a boost of the economy on the ground is indispensable to guide local energy transition policies more efficiently. Objective evidence of economic results is required, as is a better understanding of economic analysis methods, in order to equip local and regional authorities with the tools needed to demonstrate the benefits for all local players.
In this three-part study including six case studies from Europe and the United States, Energy Cities illustrates numerous socio-economic aspects of the energy transition and confirms its local economic benefits providing facts and figures.
First part – Potential and opportunities of green growth
Second part – Case studies, approaches and methodologies
Third part – Bibliography
Study supported by ADEME and Caisse des Dépôts
