25 years of Energy Cities
25 years of...
... bringing PEOPLE and ENERGY together
With our DISPLAY® CAMPAIGN, since 2003, hundreds of cities have raised their citizens’ awareness and reduced their CO2 emissions, water and energy consumption, producing thousands of attractive Display posters to communicate their buildings performances.
In the European ENGAGE INITIATIVE, citizens, public servants and other local stakeholders engage to take action in favour of climate and sustainable energy. ENGAGE proves that participative communications campaigns lead to concrete results. After a year, the monitored citizens reduced their annual CO2 emissions on average by 12%!
... fostering CITIES’ CAPACITY for action
Since its launch in 2009, more than 6.000 mayors have signed the COVENANT OF MAYORS and committed to go beyond the EU’s CO2 reduction target. Energy Cities is proud to lead the Covenant of Mayors Offices and to be one of its official Supporters.
... INNOVATING and LEARNING
We believe that the transition towards a more sustainable society requires more than technology. That is why, since 2006, we gather imaginative people and cities, with a sense of innovation, cooperation and a willingness to change things, in our ideas factory... IMAGINE

... INSPIRING societal CHANGE
We think that the world that is taking shape before us is being built at the local level. The ENERGY TRANSITION will take time. All the more reason for wasting no time in getting started! Such a shift involves a massive cultural change, that is, a change in our ways of thinking energy, its uses, production and governance models.
In 2015 and beyond, we will make local action shine.
Let’s continue this exciting journey towards low energy cities with a high quality of life for all!
